glue and NBC Universal grabbed their bathrobes and sunglasses in preparation for the 10th Annual “Lebowski Fest” at The Hammerstein Ballroom in NYC. In celebration of the limited edition Blu-ray of The Big Lebowski (and timed with the release of Jeff Bridges’ self-titled sophomore album), the famed cast reunited in person for the first time in 13 years.
The sold-out, 2,500-person theater housed a cast Q&A hosted by Entertainment Weekly’s Clark Collis, followed by the screening of The Big Lebowski on Blu-ray, and an exclusive cast/VIP after party. The event, including a pre-show with the “original Dude” that inspired the movie, streamed live over the internet to NBC Universal’s at-home viewers and over 40,000 avid Facebook fans of “The Dude.”
production glue had the honor of recreating “the rug that tied the room together” with a series of oriental rugs replacing a traditional red carpet alongside a custom 50′ x 9′ step and repeat. To catch a glimpse of Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, John Turturro, and T Bone Burnett, “Achievers” dressed as their favorite Lebowski characters, sipped White Russians, and shouted their favorite “Dude” dialogue.
As set designer, glue worked with the Hammerstein Ballroom to position eight-foot tall custom graphics, a series of oversized chairs, and a large projection screen for the movie’s Blu-ray debut. glue was also pleased to be NBC Universal’s execution partner for technical production and staffing, audio/video/lighting management, permits and traffic planning, and hospitality suites.
