Deep in the heart of NYC’s Chelsea Market, lies 5,600 square feet of faux wetlands and several live alligators. Hosted by HISTORY and Louisiana Tourism, a weeklong temporary bayou is giving market-goers a chance to visit a “Swamp in the City” experience in honor of the premiere of extreme outdoorsman show Swamp People. The interactive exhibit will bring scenes of the show to life with up-close guest encounters with six-foot alligators, complimentary Cajun food, Zydeco music, crafts by Creole artisans, and a Louisiana vacation giveaway.

production glue joined CEG, HISTORY, and Louisiana Tourism to create a 12,100 cubic foot exhibit containing over 6,500 gallons of water, 12-foot live cypress trees, over 1,000 live indigenous plants, and a mix of live American Alligators and Red-eared Slider Turtles—all viewable from an above-water dock, and a live “Gator Cam” capturing the action online: www.history.com. The exhibit will feature appearances by Louisiana Lieutenant Governor Jay Dardenne, Cajun Chef John Folse, Louisiana State Parks Naturalist Erin Sullivan, Swamp People stars Bruce Mitchell, Trapper Joe, and Chase Landry, and will support lessons on swamp life and conservation for local students.

As Technical Supervisor, glue oversaw installation, staffing, permitting, and coordination with engineers to plan an efficient and safe import of water into the market. production glue was also pleased to provide lighting, audio, and visual support for the duration of the exhibit, which ends on Sunday, February 12th.

A special thank you to CEG, HISTORY, and Louisiana Tourism for inviting us to participate in such a unique and exciting premiere.

Wednesday, January 18, Bingham McCutchen, and the JFK Library Foundation hosted “JFK50: Justice For All,” the first event in a series of traveling forums honoring the 50th anniversary of the Kennedy presidency. Event Producer David Stark Design and Production tapped production glue to help out with the show.

Caroline Kennedy (President, JFK Library Foundation President) and Jay Zimmerman (Chairman, Bingham McCutchen) hosted a conversation on “Leading with Diversity in a Global Economy” at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Moderated by Tom Brokaw, the event’s distinguished panel featured U.S. Secretary of Labor, Hilda Solis; U.S. Ambassador to the UN, Susan Rice; and Thurgood Marshall Jr., among others.

As Line Producer, Technical Director, and Stage Managers, glue worked closely with all parties to develop the run of show and Q&A format, streamline speaker and panelist onstage movements, and manage a dual-room installation of the panel and an accompanying reception.

For guest entry and reception decor, David Stark’s team created a sophisticated environment with oversized photographs and large projections of the President’s legendary quotes cascading from the ceiling down the walls of the lobby.

We thank Bingham McCutchen, David Stark Design and Production, and the JFK Library Foundation for inviting us to partake in such an honorable occasion.

In January 2012, the annual Detroit Auto Show returned to Michigan, creating a buzz alongside a market peak. With vehicle sales at their highest since 2008, automotive makers jumped at …

In January 2012, the annual Detroit Auto Show returned to Michigan, creating a buzz alongside a market peak. With vehicle sales at their highest since 2008, automotive makers jumped at the opportunity to unveil their latest concepts and impressive designs at this year’s trade show.

Within an overall dynamic exhibition, production glue contributed to the showcases of two makers this year joining new partners EWI Worldwide for Bentley, and previous partners Martin Brinkerhoff Associates on Hyundai. Each booth used a different scenic automation system to present both companies’ top-of-the-line craftsmanship and cutting-edge designs.

For EWI, production glue oversaw the installation of a 10′ x 13′ flying LED wall that traveled at 1 foot per second, to reveal a dramatic vehicle drive-on.

Working with the MBA producers, production glue was tasked with featuring the Genesis Coupe and Veloster. Our technical team supervised the building of large-scale video walls, and used cyberhoists (automated chain motors) to fly a 20′ x 13′ wall for a second drive-on reveal.

glue was pleased to provide technical production on the press events for both clients and brands.

A special thank you to both MBA and EWI for production glue’s involvement in the 2012 Detroit Auto Show.

With one returning for a second year to The Mall at Short Hills in New Jersey and a second debuting at the Houston Galleria in Texas, these chic lounges are experiential marketing “pop-ups” that serve as luxurious havens for cardmembers to escape the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

At both locations, shoppers are invited to kick back in comfortable chairs, enjoy complimentary refreshments, rest their eyes on one of four flat screen TVs, and take advantage of a free gift-wrapping service. Additional amenities include the vitals shoppers need to refresh: Wi-Fi, phone recharging stations, and personal bag/coat checks to drop big purchases at the door. Lounge visitors were also encouraged to spread the good cheer with weekly Toys for Tots drives.

Continental and United Chase have also staged special ticketed events at the lounges, including celebrity appearances by NFL star Michael Strahan of the New York Jets, book signings and cake tastings with Buddy Valastro of Cake Boss fame.

Source Marketing tapped production glue, as well as designers Mattias Hollwich & Adam Hostetler (HWKN) to bring shopping paradise to life. Similar to last year’s pop-up, HWKN envisioned the sleek, yet indulgent, layout and design, while glue served as technical supervisors during lounge installation and execution.

A warm thank you to Source Marketing, HWKN, and Chase Bank, and wishes for continued successful projects in the new year.

Last week, the online tech guide CNET hosted its first-ever pop-up at Openhouse Gallery, a Soho event space known for hosting groundbreaking pop-ups to New York’s trendiest. Complete with a feature display of the 100% electric car Nissan Leaf, LG’s latest 3D TV technology, and a section of state-of-the art “home and office” electronics, the interactive event allowed passersby to sample the latest designs in technology, speak with select members of the CNET editorial team, attend informational lectures, and recharge themselves (or their phones) at an Energizer Power Station and coffee bar.

By night, the tech playground transformed into an exclusive destination for nerds-in-the-know to cut loose with three nights of entertainment and programming, including a DJ-fueled mixer (Thursday), a Nerd Nite Speed Dating event hosted by LG (Friday), and a “Glam Shot” photo shoot party (Saturday).

At the hub of the five-day extravaganza, was experiential marketing team and glue friends, MKTG. We were delighted when MKTG asked us to direct and manage the IT infrastructure for this project, and were pleased to oversee the technical staff, the lighting, audio, and visual elements of the theater space, and electrical distribution of the venue.

A special thank you to MKTG, Openhouse Gallery, and CNET for inviting us to partake in this interactive and cutting-edge event.

On November 10th, The Guggenheim Museum hosted the annual Guggenheim International Gala in celebration of the exhibition Maurizio Cattelan: All. Art enthusiasts and distinguished members arrived for a unique dinner …

On November 10th, The Guggenheim Museum hosted the annual Guggenheim International Gala in celebration of the exhibition Maurizio Cattelan: All. Art enthusiasts and distinguished members arrived for a unique dinner experience followed by an exclusive performance by the psychedelic, electric-pop band, MGMT.

The six-story Rotunda was the site of Cattelan’s retrospective–over 100 pieces of his notable art, suspended from the Frank Lloyd Wright-designed oculus skylight. A compilation of nearly everything Cattelan produced since 1989 including unusual cameos from the likes of Pinocchio, Adolf Hitler, Pope John Paul II, John F. Kennedy, and numerous taxidermy animals.

As the Guggenheim’s event execution partner, production glue was challenged with finding a solution to increase their seating opportunities and change the diner’s perspective – specifically, to find a way to bring the dinner tables onto the ramps and off the traditionally-used Rotunda floor, while keeping eyes on All. In order to achieve this, glue built custom platforms to level long dining tables within art bays typically used for exhibit pieces. Each seat for nearly 400 guests presented a different view of the installation, no two the same.

The architecture of Frank Lloyd Wright was complemented by monochromatic silver, gray and white table accents with sophisticated floral centerpieces (created by Brooklyn florist Saipua) of natural greens and neutrals.

Guests received Mika Rottenberg’s limited-edition “PonytailGirl Matchbox” and were invited by the Young Collectors Council for the after-party performance with MGMT.

production glue collaborated with MGMT, video designer Alejandro Crawford and the Museum, to help plan an installation of LED video strips that created a dynamic show of synchronized, audio-reactive lighting. Each MGMT chord struck created video that sent charges of color racing up the Rotunda with color-changing LED strips (Barco MiStrips), hung from the Museum’s white parapet walls using custom scenic brackets. glue also provided audio, visual, and lighting support for the 45-minute set of songs MGMT custom-created, inspired by Cattelan’s provocative creations.

We are honored to collaborate with the Guggenheim Director of Special Events, Bronwyn Keenan (Executive Producer for the Gala and MGMT Performance), and Guggenheim Special Events Consultant, Sam Brumbaugh (Producer of after-party and MGMT Performance) and look forward to future collaborations.

New York – production glue, llc, a New York City-based agency that executes unique live events, today announced that is has further cemented its company structure with the appointment of two new directors: John Petrafesa, Director of Strategic & Financial Operations, and Brian Fehd, Director of Production. These additions bring the total full-time staff members of the company to 15. production glue also employs dozens of freelance and part-time staffers.

Part of a structural plan designed to support multi-level company growth, founders Tom Bussey and Eric Tetuan commissioned Petrafesa and Fehd, both long-time industry peers, to spearhead financial and technical efficiency, benefiting internal and external development.

“We founded production glue in 2006, and we are thrilled we have the need and the future that requires adding Brian and John to our team,” said Bussey. “Involving these two outstanding individuals and drawing on their years of industry experience will allow us to better address the ever increasing pace of the event industry, anticipate client needs, and service projects of expanding range and complexity.”

JOHN PETRAFESA: (Director of Strategic & Financial Operations)

John Petrafesa spent many years supporting production glue as a vendor of entertainment technology equipment and services. Now, as part of the glue family, Petrafesa focuses on keeping the company finances in order, finding new areas of growth, and serving as the agency’s in-house audio expert.

Petrafesa began his career in the entertainment industry as a Broadway and touring Sound Engineer and designer for many successful shows. His technical knowledge transferred well into the event world, where he has held various audio and lighting roles for clients including Mohegan Sun Casino and the FIFA World Congress. As a past partner on some of the agency’s most technically intensive events, his familiarity with glue’s corporate functions, concerts, and shows make him a natural fit for the team.

Bussey and Petrafesa met on the U.S. Tour of “Beauty and the Beast” in 1994 (as Technical Director and Sound Engineer, respectively.) Joint efforts and projects continued while Bussey took the path of Technical Direction, and Petrafesa delved into sound design and the art of building businesses.

“John’s practiced business savvy and managerial skills, paired with his overall knowledge of the industry and long-standing relationship with production glue make him the ideal Director of Strategic & Financial Operations,” said Tetuan. “Although having an in-house audio expert has its obvious benefits, we are keen to use John’s business acumen to help shape continued growth of production glue.”

BRIAN FEHD: (Director of Production)

A specialist in the field of entertainment production management and projects for the live audience, Brian Fehd joins production glue as Director of Production. With expertise in streamlining operations for expanding organizations, Fehd oversees the agency’s current production teams and project processes, and fosters the inner-workings behind the growth of glue.

After working alongside production glue’s technical team on numerous projects, including upfronts for CW and AOL, Fehd became a permanent fixture in the glue office in 2011. With more than 15 years in the industry, he has honed a career of relevant roles, including Technical Director for Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center (and home to many glue events), and president/co-owner of an innovative entertainment technology development company (where he became a U.S. patent-holder for one of his electrical inventions.) Fehd has created shows for production and television, attractions, and special events around the world, including Blue Man Group, Cirque de Soleil, STREB, Tap Dogs, and The 1996 Summer Olympic Games. His U.S. work has spanned the coasts, from jobs with the San Diego Zoo to The City of New York.

With an extensive background in production management and technological development, Fehd provides guidance on the multi-faceted aspects of production the company handles, including staff requirements, subcontractors, technology and equipment.

“In working with Brian countless times as a partner [at Jazz at Lincoln Center], we have always admired his commitment to this industry and each project,” said Bussey. “Brian always had control of everything under his watch, and dedicating those skills to streamlining our approach enables us to better serve clients and collaborate with vendors.”

In addition to maximizing organization, Fehd will focus on leveraging production glue’s technical teams, as well as identifying ways to anticipate client and staff needs through constant, proactive discussion and strategy.

“production glue consistently strives for advanced levels of management and efficiency, start to finish,” said Tetuan. “With Brian, we further emphasize that, and gain support for both current and future events.”

With these two dynamic additions, production glue looks forward to continually strengthening relationships with current and future clients, vendors, and industry peers.
